Medium High Voltage Power Cable MV HV

Medium High voltage cables produced by ZMS can be used for more than 30 years. It is used for efficient transportation of medium-high voltage electricity.

Our standard medium voltage power cable underground transmission line composition includes single-core and three-core cables with copper or aluminum conductors.
It also includes sheath properties made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), polyethylene (PE), ethylene propylene rubber (EPR), and low smoke zero halogens (LSZH).
As well as steel wire sheathing or aluminum wire sheathing for added mechanical strength and to provide mechanical protection.

Cable Selection

The main difference between medium and high voltage cables and general low voltage cables is their perfect shielding structure.

That is, it has two shielding structures conductor shielding and insulation shielding.

These two shielding layers are very closely related to the cable accessories.


LV MV HV Voltage Ranges


Low-voltage cables 0.6/1kV
Medium-voltage cables 3-35kV
High voltage cables 35-110kv
and ultra-high voltage cables 110-750kV

Low-voltage cables use ordinary PVC cables, polyethylene cables, and cross-linked polyethylene cables.
And the medium and high voltage cables are all cross-linked cables.
The 6kv-35kv ones are produced using three-layer co-extruded, high-density cross-linked polyethylene.
Common cable models are VV cable, YJV cable, VV22 cable, VV23 cable, YJV22 cable, and YJV23 cable.

The principles of selecting high, medium, and low-voltage cables.

The general principles for selecting cable cross-section, in order to achieve safety, reliability, economy, and technical reasonableness in power supply, the conductor cross-section should be determined according to the following principles.

(1) According to a long time allowable load a current selection of wire cross-section.
Make the wire work under the maximum load for a long time without overheating, that is, not to exceed its long-time allowable temperature.

(2) According to the allowable voltage loss select the cross-section of the wire.
So that the receiving end has sufficient voltage to ensure the quality of the power supply.

(3) Select the wire cross-section according to the economic current density.
So that the annual operating cost of the transmission line is the lowest, to achieve the purpose of economic power supply.

(4) Select the cross-section of the wire according to the mechanical strength.
Avoid breakage during operation or installation, or damage due to smashing pressure to ensure the safe operation of the power supply.

(5) Select the wire cross-section according to the thermal stability of the short-circuit conditions.
When the wire through the short-circuit current does not exceed its short-time allowable temperature.

Packaging of ZMS

ZMS MV cable products and HV cable insulation wire packaging is provided in the form of wooden reels, corrugated boxes, and coils. 

The cable ends are sealed with BOPP self-adhesive tape and a non-hygroscopic sealing cap to protect the cable ends from moisture. We can print the required marks on the outside of the barrel with waterproof material according to customer requirements.
