An armored cable mechanical protection layer can be added to any structure of cable to increase the mechanical strength of the cable and improve erosion resistance.
This is designed for areas susceptible to mechanical damage and erosion of the cable.
This design also allows the cable to be laid in any kind of way and is more suitable for direct burial in rocky areas.
In addition to the above uses, the cable with the armor layer can also enhance the tensile strength, compressive strength, and other mechanical protection to extend the service life.
It is mainly used for temperature measurement, signal transmission, and special heating in the chemical industry, metallurgy, machinery manufacturing, power generation, and a scientific test, etc.
The largest amount is the armored thermocouple.
Typically, the construction of an aluminum or steel wire armored cable consists of the following six parts.
Conductor: Common stranded copper or aluminum
Insulation layer: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), etc.
Matting: Form a protective barrier between the insulation layer and the armor
Armor: Steel or aluminum armor Steel wire or steel tape
Sheathing: Thermoplastic LSZH compound type LTS3 in accordance with BS 7655-6.1. UV resistance, hydrocarbon resistance, oil resistance, rodent resistance, and resistance, etc. are available for adoption.
Voltage: 600/1000V, 6.35/11kV and 19/33kV.
The construction of the above products will vary depending on the use and material of each cable.
In addition to the above constructions, armoured cables may also include steel tape or wire armour, protective screens, and other special materials.

Aluminum Wire Armored Cable — AWA Single core LSZH cable with aluminum wire armour (AWA)
AWA (Aluminum Wire Armored) cable is generally a single-core cable because it is non-magnetic.
Therefore it is also known as Single core LSZH cable with aluminum wire armour (AWA).
When an electric current passes through the cable, a magnetic field is created and the higher the voltage, the greater the magnetic field.
The magnetic field will induce currents (eddy currents) in the wire armor, which can lead to overheating of the AC system.
The non-magnetic aluminum armored cable prevents this from happening.
It is commonly used for main power and auxiliary control cables in a variety of environments, including overhead transmission lines, outdoor, indoor and underground power systems, and cable ducts.
This series of armored power cables can replace PVC with MDPE outer sheath to improve abrasion resistance and water resistance, and its structure will become XLPE/PVC/AWA/MDPE.
Conductor: Copper, aluminum.
Insulation: Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE)
Inner sheath: Polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
Armor: AWA
Outer sheath: PVC, PE, LSZH, MDPE
Aluminum Tape Armored Cable — ATA
ATA armored cable products can be used in transmission and distribution lines below medium and low voltage.
It not only has excellent electrical and mechanical properties, but also has strong resistance to chemical corrosion, thermal aging, and environmental stress.
Applicable voltage level 0.6/1KV, 1.8/3KV, 3.6/6KV, 6/10KV, 10KV, 11KV, 15KV, 8.7/15KV, 18/30KV, 19/33KV, 26/35KV

Flame resistance according to IEC 60332-1
Armored cable is generally fixed laying power cable, which is commonly known as fixed in one place without moving basically, and transmits electric power by a power line.
The purpose of cable plus armored layer besides the above can also enhance the tensile strength, compressive strength, and other mechanical protection to extend the service life.
The temperature of the conductor must not exceed 90 degrees in a long-term working environment.
When the cable is short-circuited the maximum temperature must not exceed 250 degrees and the duration must not exceed 5s.
The temperature of the cable OO cannot be lower than the horizontal temperature, which is 0 degrees.
The minimum bending radius (D is the outer diameter of the cable) is 15D for single-core cables; 12D for multi-core cables.
For special flame retardant products to meet the requirements of GB/T 199666-2005 "flame retardant and fire resistant wire and cable general rules".
Can I run my own armored cable?
To save money, you can choose to lay it yourself.
However, be sure to hire an electrician to test and connect it for safety, as this will also save you the trouble of not knowing how to connect the armored cable to the outlet.
Placing the cable below or above ground is essential to protect it from rodent bites and stop it from becoming a tripping hazard.
How deep does the armored cable need to be buried underground?
For best results, it is usually recommended to install at least 450 mm depth underground.
This depth increases to 600 mm where there is a high potential for interference.
