According to the report disclosed Nigerian National transmission company TCN has said Nigeria's power deficit of more than 14,000 megawatts, about 14 622 MW.
TCN daily operations report, the national electricity peak demand of about 17,720 MW, and the current supply of just over 3,000 megawatts. This is mainly because of the Niger Delta militants attacked a gas pipeline leading to a shortage of energy, power generation decreased rapidly.
TCN said that although the transmission and distribution system reform has made some progress before the domestic power grid transmission capacity of 7000 megawatts, but the actual maximum operating capacity is only 5,500 MW.
TCN report concludes, "As the number of users and increase the power demand, power supply must be increased to 20,000 megawatts to meet the country's electricity demand levels, solve the power deficit."
