Thanks to the completion of a 400-kilovolt transmission line, the transmission capacity has increased from the main power generation area in Iringa, Tanzania, to other regions.
Power transmission project manager Khalid James told the media that the 670 km transmission line from Iringa to Yanjunga was completed on time. Although the transmission lines pass through the Dodoma and Yanuka regions, all regions in the north and northwest of the country can benefit from the project.
In addition to increasing the transmission capacity, the transmission lines will also facilitate substation upgrades in the areas of Illinga, Dodoma, Singida and Yanuka. Through this project, all villages and towns along the route can get electricity.
Through the World Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Asian Development Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency concessionary loans, Tanzania power grid construction to promote.
"Further expansion of the transmission program will allow Tanzania to interoperate with South Africa and East Africa's power grid, so that Tanzania will always have sufficient power," James added.
